So far it appears that there are quite a few people out there that find this pond construction blog useful.  I’m glad that you do too!  Now you may or may not have visited blogs in the past, but just in case you have not, I think it’s a good time for me to show you how to get the most out of it.

The first thing I’d like to point out is general navigation.  Just like with any web page, there are hyperlinks that point to varying internal places in this blog as well as some external places that you might find useful too.

As such you’ll see a menu to the right that lists all of the categories the blog contains where you might find the information you’re actually looking for.  Click on any of those categories and you’ll find more articles.  The other links will go to places like the Pond Armor web site itself.

Generally speaking, the articles in the blog are shown in a truncated fashion.  This means that in order for me to show you more articles on one page, you only get to see the first few paragraphs of each article.  No problem though because you’ll always find a link at the bottom of each article that says, “Read the rest of this post…”

By clicking on that link, you’ll be transported to the article in its entirety.  The same holds true if you click any title of any article.  Move your mouse over this articles title.  See how it changes color?  That’s a hyperlink.  Clicking on it will take you to the complete text of the article.

You may also notice some of these hyperlinks within the text of the article.  Clicking on those hyperlinks will take you to a location relevant to the text you clicked where you’ll find additional information about that item.

The next cool thing is at the end of each article.  There you will find a text and button link that will allow you to email the article to a friend.  If you found the information useful, then you probably know someone else who would too.  That being the case, you can click the “Email this post” link and send it to them.  It also allows you to enter a personalized greeting to go along with it.

Next to the email link you’ll find a “Print this post” link and button.  Yep, you guessed it.  This allows you to print the information and keep it indexed in a binder or something for later use.

Each article now has a rating feature installed too.  This is usually found just below the title and author information and looks like a series of stars.  You simply move your mouse over the stars until you have highlighted as many stars as you think the article is worth.

Click, and presto!  The article will be rated.  What this does, is tell other potential readers that people value this particular article and that they might find it very useful too.  I am currently going to install a feature that will show you the highest rated articles on the right just under the menu links.  That will be coming soon.

Did you know you can comment on the articles you read?  If you read something and think hey, I have something to contribute, by all means comment on the article.  These are moderated comments, which means you will not see your comment immediately.

The comment goes to an admin queue where they are approved or disapproved.  Comments that get disapproved are usually SPAM types of comments.  You’d be amazed at how many SPAM comments I get here from people that just want their link shown but offer no useful addition information at all.  If it isn’t productive, there’s no point to it.

Up on the top right, you’ll see a search box.  Type in any keyword you are looking for and there you can search through all of the articles to find what you need.  The articles will be displayed depending upon how relevant the keyword is in that article.

Finally and what I think is the most important is the subscribe feature.  I put up about one article per day, except weekends, where I might only get one up between Saturday and Sunday.  Hey one must take a break right?  But the subscribe feature allows you to get notified every time I put an article up.

The only thing you need to be aware of with subscribing is that after you do, you’ll be asked to confirm your subscription.  You have to check you email and click the confirmation link inside to complete that process.  Once you do, you’ll be set up for full automation of notifications.

So anyway, I hope that helps you get the best out of this pond construction blog.  I enjoy writing the articles and I hope you find them useful.
